For human resource development, India provides over 90 scholarships annually to Lao nationals. (Under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programmes, Colombo Plan, Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Mekong Ganga Cooperation). The mission organized ITEC Day on 24 February, 2006; celebrating the event to mark the 50th Anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations also.  A number of Lao senior Cabinet Ministers, MPs, DGs from various Ministries, senior editors and members of the Lao print and audio-visual media and ITEC alumni attended the very successful function, which was held at the Embassy premises.  So far, under ITEC, GOI has trained over 600 Lao nationals.   The ITEC alumni in Laos include senior political leaders, high ranking Government officials, members of the audio-visual and print media, academia, reverend Buddhist monks and others.  The ITEC training brochure for the year can be accessed at :
